2008 PINE VIEW COACHING STAFF

RAY HOSNER
Panther Varsity Head Coach

Coach Hosner took over as varsity head football coach at Pine View in 2001. During his tenure he has won 68 games with only 17 losses making him the winningest active coach in the state of Utah (with over 5 years at the helm). He led the Panthers to consecutive appearances in the 3A state Finals in 2004 and 2005, and to the 4A state Finals in 2007. He has won the Region Nine title four times and has led his team to the playoffs six times in the last seven years with a 12-6 playoff record. In 2006 Coach Hosner was a finalist for the Dixie State head coaching position and was ultimately offered the position of defensive coordinator. Fortunately for the Panthers, he chose to remain at Pine View.

Coach Hosner played high school football in New York where he was an all state player. He then accepted a scholarship to Southern Utah University where he completed an outstanding collegiate career as a linebacker.

Prior to coaching at Pine View, Hosner coached high school football in his home state of New York and locally at Hurricane High under head coach Wes Christiansen. He later accepted a position as an assistant at Pine View where he apprenticed under the legendary Sark Arslanian before assuming the role of head coach in 2001.

Coach Hosner is married and has three children: Kaden, Bladen, and Brooklyn. His wife, Keri, is a teacher at Snow Canyon High school.

TODD SHAW
Offensive Coordinator, Running Backs Coach

Coach Shaw took over as running backs coach and special teams coordinator at Pine View in 2001. Since then he has helped develop several outstanding running backs, who have not only received all state honors, but have also gone on to receive college football scholarships. These players include: Jake Foote, who led the state in rushing in 2001 and accepted a scholarship to the University of Nevada; Tom Lawson, who currently plays running back for Nebraska; and Jesse Ence, who started at running back for Dixie State as a true freshman. In 2007 Coach Shaw was named offensive coordinator for the panthers. In 2007 the panthers led the entire state in total offense and scoring and were among the leaders in the nation.

Coach Shaw played high school football at Cottonwood where he was a standout fullback. His play earned him a scholarship to Dixie College where he played for Coach Greg Croshaw for two years. After completing his eligibility at Dixie, Shaw played for two years at Southern Utah University where he received his bachelors degree. He began his coaching career as an assistant at Taylorsville where he helped lead his team to the state finals.

Coach Shaw is married and has three boys. In addition to his family and coaching duties he teaches history at Pine View High School.

DALE STOTT, M.D.
Offensive Line Coach, Run Game Coordinator, Strength and Conditioning Coach

Coach Stott, now in his sixth year as an assistant coach at Pine View, is originally from Tucson, Arizona where he played offensive tackle and linebacker on a state championship football team at Amphi High School in 1975. As a senior he received All State honors and was awarded a football scholarship to Snow College. After serving a church mission in Mexico, he attended the University of Arizona on an academic scholarship, where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Science in 1983, and his Medical Doctorate in 1987.

Coach Stott began his football coaching career in 1983 at Santa Rita High School, while attending medical school. After one year as an assistant, he was promoted to head coach of the junior varsity team and led them to two region championships and an undefeated season. He was subsequently named varsity offensive line coach and offensive run coordinator. During his tenure at Santa Rita, five of his offensive linemen were awarded football scholarships to Division 1 Universities.

Dr. Stott, a board certified anesthesiologist and pain specialist, took a temporary hiatus from coaching to pursue his medical career. He returned to coaching in 2003 at the invitation of Coach Ray Hosner. After serving one year as the Pine View varsity defensive line coach, he was named the offensive line coach, strength coach, and run game coordinator in 2004. Since assuming those roles, Coach Stott has helped the Panthers set a state record for total offense, and reach the State Finals three times.  Coach Stott is an avid power lifter and is certified as a strength and conditioning coach by the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).

GREG CROSHAW
Defensive Coordinator

Coach Croshaw, the former head coach of Dixie State College and one of the the winningest coaches in junior college football history with a record of 214-56-1 over 24 seasons, recently joined the Pine View staff as defensive coordinator. He brings a wealth of experience and football knowledge with him as well as a tradition of success. His teams finished #2 or #3 in the nation 13 times and won 17 conference championships. In addition to his tenure at Dixie State he also coached at Northern Arizona University, Weber State, BYU and Snow College.In his first year as defensive coordinator at Pine View, Coach Crowshaw's defense was among the leaders in the state in fewest points allowed and among the top in the nation in interceptions. His defense was also first in the region in rushing yards allowed, turnovers created, points allowed, and total defense. 

BRANDON DRAPER
Varsity Linebackers
Coach

Draper is in his first year with Pine View. Prior to coming to Pine View he served as head football coach at Beaver High where his teams enjoyed excellent success. He left Beaver to serve in the Army in Iraq for 18 months. Since his tour in Iraq he has been on active duty in St. George.


CHRIS BRINAGH

Varsity Wide Receivers Coach

This is the first season at Pine View for Coach Brinagh, who will serve as the Varsity Wide Receivers coach for the Panthers. Prior to joining the Panthers, Coach Brinagh served as an assistant coach at SUU, Dixie State, and Dixie High School.  Originally from Southern California, Coach Brinagh played collegiately at Dixie State and Idaho State University.  As a wide receiver in college he had a distinguished career, which included leading his team in receiving and being named the most valuable player in the Rotary Bowl.

BRETT GIFFORD
Head Coach, Junior Varsity

Coach Gifford is entering his second year as head coach of the Pine View Junior Varsity Football team. In his first season his team finished undefeated. Coach Gifford played his high school football at Pine View where he starred at linebacker for the Panthers. He served as an assistant on the JV for several years before being named head coach in 2006.

TELLEY ESPLIN
Assistant Coach, Junior Varsity

Coach Esplin is entering his second year as a coach at Pine View. Last year, as the running backs coach for the junior varsity, he helped lead his team to an undefeated season.

SEAN ALLEN
Junior Varsity Receivers
Coach

Allen is an assistant coach on the Pine View Junior Varsity team. He works primarily with receivers and defensive backs.

SCOTT FISHER
Assistant Varsity Line Coach

This is Coach Fisher's first year at Pine View, as well as his first year in coaching.  He will work as an assistant  on the Varsity, working primarily with the offensive and defensive lines. Coach Fisher is from St. George, and played locally at both Dixie High School, and Dixie State College. He was named first team All-American, as an offensive tackle, in both high school, and junior college.  He played his final two years of collegiate football at Iowa State University, where he was a two year starter.
